New Videography Training System Cuts Through The Artificiality Of Academic Training
by admin on Jul.16, 2009, under Business Videos
According to Ted Sun, Managing Director of Winmax Video, Winmax Video Production, Winmax Video of California, his company has developed an educational system which combines hands on video experience with in class training that produces highly skilled videographers within 2 years.
According to Sun, students are chosen through a unique testing system his company developed which pinpoints individuals with visual and videography skills through a series of color pattern and combination recognition tests. Once students are selected they are enrolled in the unique 2 year work education program. Students attend class half day, and work the other half in low paying positions in the video firm. As their skills develop students are promoted to higher and higher levels of responsibility. During the initial training period, anyone incorrectly admitted can be weeded out, and students who succeed are subsequently guided into a work/education tract which prepares them to use their skill.
Sun states that in the long tract academic approach students are passively trained in a field they frequently won’t work in for four or more years. Students are often forced to choose specialty tracts long before they have the chance to work in the field. And this may explain why students often matriculate and then switch professions.
Sun stated that his company’s system of education not only streamlines the training process; it also produces higher quality graduates, who produce superior work. He proved this point anecdotally. Winmax occasionally hires people who have had a traditional videography education and according to Sun, these workers are inevitably inferior to the videographers trained through the Winmax system. One additional plus of this unique educational system is that inexpensive labor costs helps keep production costs down, and Winmax is able to offer high quality yet inexpensive trade show videos, inexpensive videos,
to their customers. By using students in the early phases of their training as low paid grips and production assistants, Winmax can avoid shelling out lost of money to hire assistants for these positions. Not only that, but the students is immediately placed in a working relationship with their field, which allows them to keep their learning practical and focused on its goal.
